Easton Arts Academy has been through seven principals and two CEOs in is brief six-year history.

So the school board was looking for a new CEO who planned to stick around for a while.

The school has its man with Paul Hunter, according to school board President Bridget Masterson.

The board hired Hunter last week. His first day on the job is May 13.

“We felt his leadership skills and knowledge of education will benefit the school,” Masterson said.

Masterson hopes Hunter will bring stability to the school’s administrative ranks. He brings experience as the former principal and CEO of the Seven Generations Charter School and most recently as the director of charter schools for the Allentown School District.

Hunter will earn $135,000 a year in the new job.

The school received resumes from about 15 interested candidates. Five of those candidates got a closer look and two finalists were interviewed by the board, Masterson said.

Hunter replaces CEO Chadwick Antonio, who left in December. School Chief Operating Officer Mohamed Hagag has been serving as acting CEO.

The school lost its principal in November. In January it hired Charles Bomboy Jr. as the principal and Yu Kai Cheung as the assistant principal.

Masterson says the school now has a solid administrative team in place, led by Hunter.

“We felt his energy was a good match for what the school needs right now,” Masterson said.

Easton Arts Academy opened in 2017 as a kindergarten through fifth-grade school at 30 N. Fourth St. in Easton. The school is privately managed but financed with public funds.
